Holy crap, holy crap, holy <\/em>crap!!!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Suddenly, I want to shake myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hard.<\/span><\/p>\n

For crying out loud, mermaids aren\u2019t even real<\/em>! They don\u2019t exist outside of musical animations. They\u2019re just a myth; like unicorns and pygmy trolls and sparkly vampires.<\/span><\/p>\n

My subconscious is most likely playing dirty tricks on me because I\u2019ve always compared her to Disney’s Little Mermaid. That has to be it. There\u2019s just no other feasible explanation.<\/span><\/p>\n

And yet, the dread won\u2019t leave my body. I can\u2019t convince myself that what I just saw isn\u2019t real. Not after what happened in the cellar, and not when multiple screens still display the disappearance of one of the world\u2019s largest oceans\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n
